Below is a list of courses Altta provide for our users:

Forklift/MEWP Training

ITSSAR Instructor Course

An ITSSAR instructor course is carried out over 10 days if the course is initial training. If the ITSSAR training course is for a reregistration or direct entry then a 5 day ITSSAR training course can be taken.

The ITSSAR Instructor Training Course in Cambridgeshire

The ITSSAR Instructor Training Course is a progressive training course; an ITSSAR Training Standards Adviser will visit our Peterborough academy to ensure that the course is being delivered correctly. This approach helps to reduce the stress levels of the candidate. A multi-choice theory test needs to be completed by the ITSSAR Instructor Training Course candidate and the course tutor invigilates this.

RTITB Forklift Truck Instructor Course

The RTITB forktruck instructor course is a 10 day course for initial instructors.

The instructor course is carried out at our academy in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire by Steve Lake or Colin Frost. Both Steve and Colin have delivered many instructor courses in the Cambridgeshire area over a 15 year period and still counting.

Counterbalance Forklift Training

Counterbalance forklifts are the most commonly used forklifts globally. They contain a counterweight to the rear so that they can lift immensely heavy loads without the risk of tipping over. These forklifts vary in lifting capacity and lift height and are available in either 3 or 4 wheel drive.

With our comprehensive, thorough training here at The Altta Group, we will cover everything from different fuel types to the difference between driving a 3 or 4 wheel drive truck. This will provide you with a strong foundation of knowledge you need to carry out your job safely and the tools to familiarise yourself with the specific forklift you will need to operate within your workplace.

Reach Forklift Training

Reach forklift trucks are used in a wide variety of warehouses where height is utilised as well as the floor space of the building. It is common in these situations to use reach forklifts to stack pallets 6 metres or higher, so they require different specialised training if you are planning to employ this type of truck in your workplace.

Reach trucks are mainly used indoors due to their design. They are available in 180° and 360° steering, and some are known as multi-reach trucks, meaning they can be used as normal reach or side loader forklift trucks as well as high reach.

At Altta, we offer comprehensive reach forklift training to ensure you and your employees have the best knowledge possible. All we need from you is the type of forklifts you need the training for and we’ll provide it. It really is as simple as that. We guarantee only the best training and experience possible, so you can be assured you won’t be making the wrong decision by choosing us as your training provider.

Pivot

Pivot Steer trucks are generally used in warehouses that have limited space so need to have very narrow aisles (VNA).  The pivot steer is commonly referred to as a Bendi or Flexi truck, however, these are brand names.

The pivot steer is designed to work both inside and outside which helps reduce the cost of owning two different types of forklifts.

The Bendi or Flexi training would have to be carried out at your site and the truck would need to be in a serviceable and legal condition.  If you wish to book a large group of candidates then we would be able to hire a truck so the Bendi training can be delivered at our Peterborough academy.

VNA Man Up Forklift Training

VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) Man Up forklifts are used in incredibly narrow warehouse spaces and cases where there are very high shelves. These trucks have many complex functions and precise controls to navigate and function safely in tight spaces. The operator cab can rise to very high levels to allow the driver to have optimum visibility when removing loads from a height. These trucks can be wire-guided and operate on runners and caster wheels to maximise the precision and safety of the operator.

At The Altta Group, we offer VNA forklift training across Cambridgeshire so you can make sure your business maximises its warehouse space and that you and your employees are working as safely as possible. As this type of forklift training is more specialised, we cannot offer this at our Peterborough based training academy. However, we can come to your site and deliver the training without you having to go anywhere. That way, we can train you within the environment where you will be applying your training, plus you won’t have to travel!

Rough Terrain Forklift Training

Rough Terrain Telescopic forklift trucks are most commonly used on building sites to load pallets of bricks onto scaffold towers. Farmers also use them to load lorries onto their farms, so this type of truck is used in very heavy-duty outdoor settings. They are all 4-wheel drive as standard and the forklift of choice for the mining, agriculture and forestry industries, so if your business could benefit from Rough Terrain forklift training, look no further than The Altta Group.

Rough Terrain Fixed Mast Forklift Training

Rough Terrain Fixed Mast forklift trucks are designed to work on undulating terrain to move items around building sites and farms. Some companies use these trucks to manoeuvre 25-45 ft containers, which are very heavy-duty. They are all 4-wheel drive as standard and the forklift of choice for the mining, agriculture and forestry industries, so if your business could benefit from Rough Terrain Fixed Mast forklift training, look no further than The Altta Group.

Scissor Lift Training

Scissor lifts use a straightforward up and down movement to reach high places in either indoor or outdoor settings, usually used for stocktaking in warehouses or to access areas that need repair. Scissor lifts are available in indoor and outdoor types; however, the training course required to use them is the same.

Vehicle Mounted MEWP

Vehicle-mounted Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPS) are used in specialist industries such as tree surgeons, high-level window cleaners and other industries that need to work at extreme heights.  This training can be carried out at the customer’s site.

VNA Man Down Forklift Training

VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) Man Down forklifts are used in incredibly narrow warehouse spaces and cases where there are very high shelves. These trucks have many complex functions and precise controls to navigate and function safely in tight spaces. The operator cab remains at ground level when removing pallets, unlike Man Up VNAs, which allow the operator cab to rise.

Transport Manager Operator Compliance

The Transport Manager Operator Compliance Awareness Course or Transport Manager Refresher Course is designed so that it can take place at your site or at our Peterborough academy.  The course is taught by our highly trained instructors who hold both their National and International transport manager qualifications and who deal with drivers on a regular basis.

The course is designed to keep transport managers, supervisors and ‘o’ licence holders up to date with relevant law changes and changes in procedures.

Why is this training required?

Both the Traffic Commissioner and the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency expect transport managers, supervisors and ‘o’ licence holders to keep their fleets safe and legal.  This includes making sure that their drivers stay compliant with drivers hours and the road transport working time directive.

With a busy schedule, it is easy for the transport management team to overlook a law change but this could have a detrimental effect against the ‘o’ licence and the efficiency of the business.

Pedestrian/Ride On Powered Pallet Truck Training

Powered Pallet Trucks (also known as pump trucks or pallet jacks) are used to manoeuvre pallets at low levels, which are either pedestrian-operated or ridden on. They are most commonly found on loading bays to help load and unload large vehicles, but they also have many other applications.

Most warehouse environments will benefit from the use of a powered pallet truck, so training your employees to use this machinery could be incredibly beneficial for your business.
We are proud to offer only the best workplace training, so you can be assured that if you choose us, you won’t be disappointed.

HIAB/Lorry Loader Training

At the Altta Group, we offer expert lorry loader training (HIAB) to suit your business needs. Lorry loaders (also known as lorry-mounted cranes) are pieces of heavy machinery that use hydraulic attachments to pick up and deposit materials onto long beds at the rear of a vehicle. They are used to transport various materials, from dirt to raw minerals. Depending on the capacity of the loader, these pieces of machinery can carry over 30 tonnes of material. Usage of lorry loading equipment is very efficient as it allows labour to be more focused on other more critical tasks.
